Description
Referenced since 1751, Ferreira has always been synonymous with high-quality Portuguese wine. The history of the brand is intertwined with the evolution of the Demarcated Douro Region, established in 1756, and its Port and still wines. Years later, the family-owned company came under the management of Antónia Adelaide, widow of António Bernardo II.
Known for her exceptional energy and rare commercial talent, she significantly boosted viticulture in the Douro and engaged in notable social assistance activities in the region. Following her passing, the company became a limited liability company, marking a new phase of expansion while maintaining its core values.
These values have carried Ferreira through the years and played a pivotal role in creating wines like the legendary Barca Velha in the 1950s. Since 1987, under the management of Sogrape Vinhos, the company has led the national market for Port wines and continues to present prestigious wine brands, such as Quinta da Leda.
