Basil Renaissance was created as a joke between the two bartenders of the house, Pedro Pizarro and Gonçalo Soeiro, who set out with the aim of creating the best Twist of a classic.
Gonçalo created Basil in an attempt to create a different Whiskey Sour, replacing the bourbon with Irish, adding basil and replacing the sugar with Agave.
The original recipe uses bourbon whiskey, sugar, lemon and egg white, but this twist makes the cocktail distinct, bringing citrus, floral notes and a differentiated dryness that raises the level of the cocktail.
